Our Legacy

Starting in 1913, after coming across the Atlantic to the shores of the United States, our family LEGACY began with Henry, our great grandfather on the matriarchal side, making his mark working in the steel mills in Steubenville, Ohio. Both grandfathers, unknowingly, ignited the spark that grew into a flame within other facets of the industry. George, on the matriarchal side, living in El Segundo, CA in Los Angeles, putting himself through Northrop’s Institute of Technology earning his degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He received many commendations from Lockheed in the 50’s and 60’s to highlight a career he was very proud of. Although, it was undeniable when you spoke to him, the one highlight he was most proud of, being an integral part in the building of the first space shuttle. Bob, our grandfather on the patriarchal side of the family, leaving El Segundo, CA in Los Angeles and the security of a well-paying General Manager position at PSM in Inglewood, uprooted his family to take his chance on a small heat treat company in Southern California - Star Heat Treating. Partnering with a handful of others, including the well-known (especially in the knife industry) Paul Boss, after changing the name and focus from fishhooks to manufacturing, Bob and Jeanne crafted years of exceptional service. Through the years, the others eventually being bought out. Bob and Jeanne, being joined by their son once out of the Army in the early 70’s, through hard work, sacrifice and an unparalleled dedication to their employees and servicing their customers, they were able to turn our family's Heat Treat and Brazing facility into one of the finest family owned and operated Heat Treat Facilities in the country. As the business was sold and being 1 of 5 siblings involved in the business, for our immediate family, it didn’t take long after to realize how much the business was a part of us. How deeply the industry roots had grown and how engrained in the fabric, Heat Treat & Brazing service, was of who we are. The relationships forged with lifelong employees, who became friends and ultimately family. Customers who became friends, attending family affairs and functions, also a large part of our extended family. Memories poured in of running around the facility at 5 years old. Never ending sweeping as an adolescent. As a teen, wishing football practice was still on 2-a-days so I didn't have to go to work. And, as a young adult, working from 4 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. for weeks on end because it was what the business, what the family needed to meet our customer's needs. Now raising kids of our own, there is a thought of importance in having the ability to provide the same opportunity for memories that are so special. Filtering through the years of endless memories, we realized that we missed the direct relationships that filled our heart and soul with joy. Thoughts of beginning again, began to build. We found we missed the interactions. The undeniable and authentic expression of relief and thanks for being able to come through in a pinch for a customer in need. And, in reflecting on the LEGACY, we found that we were missing a piece of our purpose. We are here to continue the LEGACY that started in 1913, in the steel mills of Steubenville, Ohio and cemented itself in the heat treat and braze industry, with LEGACY THERMAL PROCESSING, LLC.
